We were coming from Durban and this was the first time I've ever gone through the Transkei, in fact it was the first time i've been to Durban. I've heard stories about the Transkei, scary stories but i also heard about really great adventures in this part of South Africa.

The Transkei is mostly Xhosa and this is also where former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela comes from. As we drove we saw the most amazing landscapes I have ever seen, high mountains and big deep valleys. Everything there is undeveloped.

As night dawns we were actually just entering the real Transkei and we had 400km left to drive. Realizing that I wasnt going to stop anywhere here for petrol and in fact there is just two petrol stations for the entire Transkei, or at least what i could find we started to panic a bit. By the time we finally got to the Eastern Cape we were well tired.

Apart from the stories and what I've heard, the Transkei is very beautiful and also the home of Sun coast. I think that's the name.

This must be one of the most breathtaking places in South Africa when it comes to views.
